The large room is adorned with Star Warsian murals and clear plexiglass aquarium-like structures filled with arty sea creatures and coral. The SPCAS is the brainchild of Ray Armstrong and his business sidekick, Marne Alder. Built for a home with 16-foot ceilings, it was important that Alice be tall in stature to fit the space. Alice is over six feet tall and four feet wide. Designed as a freestyle piece, it has traditional Queen Anne legs. From the simplistic ones you get at an Asian takeout (paper sleeve, snap apart) to fancy ones that are lacquered and inlaid with mother of pearl, the chopstick is considered more utilitarian than art. I have created art that is meant to be used...to eat or decorate your hair. Each pair is handmade and adorned with with antique copper and additional splashes of color. The art end is coated with a thick coat of gloss lacquer for protection.
